Home shoppers and real estate investors often point out that waterfront properties are becoming harder to come by in the Southwest Florida housing market. Despite this apparent shortage of waterfront residences, demand for homes in seaside neighborhoods does not seem to diminish. There are, however, various opportunities for home buyers in Sarasota in this regard.
Coral Cove in Sarasota seems like a well-kept secret due to its almost-hidden and unassuming entrance located just west of US-41, the South Tamiami Trail. Coral Cove is north of the Sarasota Square Mall and south of Stickney Point Road, which is one of the causeways that connect the Florida mainland with the white-sandy beaches of Siesta Key. There are about 200 single-family residences in this neighborhood by the sea, and a few of the properties here look directly out into the Sarasota Bay.
Modern residential development at Coral Cove began after World War II; as a result, a few Florida ranch-style homes aesthetically competed against Mediterranean mansions and Key West-style properties. The real estate market here is considerably more active than in other waterfront neighborhoods; a three-bedroom home with 1,770 square feet of living space can be listed under $400K while a four-bedroom mansion with private dock space overlooking the Gulf of Mexico can be negotiated for $4.4M.
Boating and fishing are popular hobbies among Coral Cove residents who can launch their boats and kayaks from the neighborhoods own park and boat ramp. Suburban comforts such as grocery stores and restaurants located right outside of the gate and within walking distance. A number of private golf courses and racquet clubs are located nearby, and young residents are served by Gulf Gate Elementary, Sarasota Middle, Riverview High, and Suncoast Polytechnical High Schools.
