Oak Ford is built on more than 450 acres of Florida nature; the 27-hole golf course is not operational as of 2018 pending a decision by the developers on how to proceed with the land. The nearest shopping center is the large Bee Ridge Plaza, which is anchored by a remodeled Publix supermarket. The beaches of Siesta Key are close enough to visit every weekend.
