The Privateer condominium was built in 1974, during a particular period of construction in Longboat Key when developers began erecting high-rise condominium towers to take advantage of the gorgeous view afforded by the Gulf of Mexico and the Sarasota Bay. The Privateer tower is located just steps away from the world-famous white sands of Longboat Key, and it features the right amount of amenities at reasonable prices.

There are 116 units at the Privateer, and all of them feature two bedrooms and two bathrooms. Not all floor plans, however, are designed equally. The coziest units are built on 1,080 square feet and are priced around $435K. Larger floor plans, around 1,736 square feet, will feature expansive terraces, well-appointed configurations and far more attractive views; these can be negotiated for $600K.

Beach access for Privateer residents consists of taking a short stroll past the Olympic-size swimming pool, the fitness center, the spa, and the clubhouse. Other amenities within the Privateer complex include shuffleboard and tennis. While residents are rightfully expected to spend most of their time at the beach, Longboat Key offers a host of other activities. Championship golf, boating, fishing, bike riding, and even fine dining can be enjoyed without leaving the island. Longboat Key has its own post office and small shopping district, Avenue of the Flowers, conveniently located very close to the Privateer. The new Publix GreenWise Market reopened at the end of 2012.

Upscale dining and shopping are just a short drive away from the Privateer, at St. Armands Circle. Cultural events are always taking place in the nearby City of Sarasota, but Longboat Key residents also enjoy easy access to Bradenton and everything that Manatee County has to offer.
