Development of Saddle Oak Estates started in the year 2000; at the time, national builder U.S. Homes made the wise decision to parcel out the land and allow local builders to take custom orders. The result is a very diverse community in terms of real estate; this is a place where you can find Mediterranean, Tuscan and English Manor architecture next to Sarasota Modern and Key West homes.
As you can expect from an equestrian community, the lots at Saddle Oak Estates are very large; they start at five acres and feature homes with at least 2,460 square feet of living space. Not all homeowners in this neighborhood raise horses; some have transformed their barns into workshops, greenhouses and even garages for their antique sports cars. Some properties have private swimming pools and even their own ponds.
As of September 2018, pricing at Saddle Oak Estates started around $695K for a three-bedroom and three-bathroom Tuscan estate built on a lot larger than five acres. Even though there are only about 40 residences in this community, a few listings come on the market each month. A few homes go for more than a million dollars; these tend to be feature five or more bedrooms plus extras such as wine cellars, fitness centers, spas, home studios, expansive balconies, and more.
Saddle Oak Estates is not an isolated community. The nearest Publix supermarket at the Bee Ridge shopping district is less than four miles away. A few golf courses and country clubs are nearby, and Myakka River State Park is about 10 minutes away. Driving to Downtown Sarasota or to the beach takes less than minutes.
