The southern tip of Longboat Key is the most developed area of the Sarasota barrier islands due to its proximity to Lido Key, St. Armands Circle and Downtown Sarasota. This is where the Sands Point low-rise condominium is located.

The Sands Point condominium has the distinction of being one of the earliest residential structures built on Longboat Key.
