Point of Rocks on Siesta Key : Beachfront Homes for Sale in Sarasota

Real estate opportunities in the barrier islands of Sarasota are not as rare as some house hunters believe.  In the case of Siesta Key, the most active real estate market is located between Siesta Drive and Stickney Point Road, the two main causeway access roads to the island.  Point of Rocks is one of the oldest beachfront communities of Sarasota County, which is something that home buyers notice as soon as they arrive in the neighborhood and see the renovated beach cottages dating back to the 1950s.

Point of Rocks is hardly a cookie-cutter neighborhood.  The diversity of real estate that can be appreciated here ranges from the iconic Mediterranean revival style that is a staple of life in Southwest Florida to elegant Key West homes and from Florida ranch-style houses to modernist estates.  The wide range of properties means that house hunters will encounter plenty of diversity in real estate pricing.  Beachfront estates that feature nearly 7,000 square feet of living space listed for nearly $5M are routinely listed alongside efficiency cottages priced at just $113K.  Properties facing the Little Sarasota Bay tend to feature lower prices, and the same can be said of those located inland.

Residents in this beachside community enjoy access to Crescent Beach by means of a walkway that is a bit secluded.  Most visitors tend to enjoy the beaches on the north end of the island, and thus neighbors of Point of Rocks can relish in having a little more privacy when they walk over to enjoy the Gulf of Mexico.  There are 100 properties in this community, and listings come on the market fairly often.

Although some suburban comforts are located within Siesta Key, most Point of Rocks’ neighbors cross the nearby Stickney Point Bridge to tend to their shopping and entertainment needs.  Crossing over to the Florida mainland takes only a few minutes before shops, restaurants, parks, golf courses, marinas, and many other conveniences can be located.  Young residents can enroll at Gulf Gate Elementary, McIntosh Middle and Riverview High Schools.
