Many of the neighborhoods in Osprey were planned specifically for residents who enjoy the Florida outdoors, boating, fishing, recreations and a quiet lifestyle. South Creek is located west of the Tamiami Trail and close to Dryman Bay, just across the water from Casey Key.
South Creek is a gated neighborhood of 69 custom-built homes that range from the Mediterranean and Spanish revival styles to the spacious Florida ranch-style homes. The earliest construction at South Creek dates back to the late 1970s, but most of the single-family homes were developed at the end of the 20th century.
Although South Creek homeowners tend to hold on to their beloved properties, real estate activity in this neighborhood picks up from time to time. Most listings here are very spacious and feature a minimum of three bedrooms; some start at just under $350K for an elegant single-story home with 2,369 square feet of living space in a 100 ft X 120 ft lot. A four-bedroom, luxurious waterfront mansion with private swimming pool and exclusive dock space can be negotiated for $900K.
The reasonable homeowner association fees at South Creek include the upkeep of several amenities such as tennis and basketball courts, playgrounds, manicured landscaping, nature areas and the community dock. Many residents enjoy boating, fishing, or simply hiking around the large neighborhood. Oscar Scherer State Park, one of Florida’s most pristine nature habitats, is just on the other side of US 41. Golf enthusiasts will find courses directly to the north and the southeast and the beaches of Venice and Siesta Key are just a short drive away.
The Pine View School for the Gifted is rated as one of the best in the Sunshine State and it is very close to South Creek. Laurel Nokomis Elementary/Middle and Venice High Schools are the alternatives to Pine View.
