We have a Facebook page called Share Your Sarasota where we “share” activities, events and restaurant deals in the area. Groupon and Living Social have really good deals and it was Groupon that actually led us to the Festivals of Speed event up in St Petersburg Florida. We have real estate in the background of the Facebook page and one of these days we might just get a lead from it, but until then we will just keep posting the deals and sharing our experiences of great events like Festivals of Speed.
The Festivals of Speed event was on April 1st 2012 at North Straub Park in St. Petersburg overlooking the bay. $10 on Groupon bought us 2 passes that would have otherwise been $20. It only took us 25 minutes to get there from Lakewood Ranch. The event was packed and parking could only be found a few blocks away on the street of a nearby historic neighborhood. Unbelievably Grand and Gorgeous Historic homes by the way. The weather was perfect and what a location. Antique planes flew above the event and curious boaters also cruised by to take a peak. Vintage and current models by Lamborghini, Bugatti, Rolls-Royce, Porsche, Aston Martin & Bentley were on display. Collectors & auto enthusiasts were invited to show off their prized possessions. A few of the local auto dealers were present with cigars, wine tastings and soft jazz for their VIP members.
To sum it up, it was a beautiful day, in an incredible location and we would go back in a heartbeat. Neither one of us are really “car people” like our fathers, but we definitely appreciated the vehicles that we saw that day. Later that evening the waiter at BJ’s in Pinellas Park asked what car was our favorite and my wife immediately piped up and said the 4 door Bentley convertible sedan with red interior.
