With all the new construction taking place in nearby Parrish, a few neighborhoods in northern Palmetto are worth taking a look at, particularly when they are well-established communities such as Fresh Meadows, which is located right on the boundary with Parrish, west of the Buffalo Creek Golf Course and south of Moccasin Wallow.
Fresh Meadows Palmetto was initially developed in the mid-1990s, a time when Florida ranch-style homes were transitioning into the more popular and elaborate Mediterranean revival style. The homes in this community range between two and four bedrooms, but the lots tend to be larger than what you usually find south of the Manatee River. The neighborhood itself is very attractive thanks to an abundance of mature oak trees and patches of Florida forest. Families will certainly enjoy living in a quiet neighborhood where they are free to use the swimming pool, basketball courts, playground, and tennis courts.
In late 2024, not many listings were available at Fresh Meadows Palmetto, but one that stood out was a three-bedroom home with two bathrooms, a two-car garage, and a large fenced-in backyard with a gorgeous pool. Priced at just $475K, this is an example of a property that is very affordable when compared to the new neighborhoods under construction on the other side of the Buffalo Creek Golf Course. There is a good chance that more listings will come on the market in 2020 because of the planned Willow-Ellenton Trail, which is a greenway project expected to run along the old train tracks connecting Fresh Meadows to the Florida Railroad Museum. Aside from the Willow-Ellenton Trail, there are other developments that Fresh Meadows homeowners will benefit from in terms of property value appreciation. The Gateway Commons shopping center, for example, opened in 2018 with a new Publix supermarket, and there are other commercial real estate projects under construction along Highway 301. Finally, the beaches of Manatee County are only 30 minutes away from Fresh Meadows Palmetto, thus making this neighborhood one that you should include in your house hunting list for 2024.
