The Lake Sarasota subdivision has more than one lake within its residential boundaries, which run from Bee Ridge Road south to Jarvis Road and from Berkshire Drive west to I-75.  The actual Lake Sarasota is part of a nearby country club.

The lifestyle at Lake Sarasota is certainly suburban.  The main architectural design is the Florida ranch-style house built on an oversize lot with plenty of landscaping and enough room for a swimming pool, a playground or a vegetable garden.

The Lake Sarasota neighborhood was developed during a time of prosperity in the Southwest Florida housing market; for this reason, the properties here are of solid, high-quality construction.  The standard house features three bedrooms and two bathrooms, a garage, lanai, front yard, and separate dining rooms.  By the end of the decade, many of these homes will qualify to be registered as historic properties.

Various lakes, ponds and green areas give this community a pleasant feel.  Some homes have lake views while others are hidden by patches of mature forest land.  Lakeview Park is located within walking distance of most homes, and it features a lake, picnic grounds, nature trails, and a lovely disc golf course.  Three other parks are just a short drive away: Urfer, Rothenbach and Twin Lakes.

Lake Sarasota is conveniently located near a Wal-Mart Supercenter and a Home Depot.  Golf players can walk to Bent Tree Country Club, or they can drive a few minutes to play at various other courses.  The white sandy beaches of Siesta Key can be reached by means of a seven-mile drive straight down Bee Ridge Road.
