A small and thriving census-designated community in Sarasota County lies wedged between I-75, Venice and Sarasota. Its name derives from a character from Wadsworth Longfellow’s poem ‘The Song of Hiawatha’. If not for the luxurious Casey Key, with its oldest public beach in Sarasota, its golf and beach resort, you could be fooled into believing Nokomis is nothing more than a small fishing village.
