North Lido Beach Sarasota | Spectacular Homes for Sale

Many people think of Siesta Key as the beach spot that is the closest to Downtown Sarasota, but this is geographically inaccurate. The Lido Key barrier island, which is mostly known for the stylish St. Armands Circle shopping and entertainment district, is about 10 minutes away from the heart of Downtown Sarasota, and this is where you can find North Lido Beach, an upscale and secluded oceanfront neighborhood where homeowners enjoy privileged access to the beach.

There are two ways you can access Lido Key Beach: You can drive to the western end of the John Ringling Causeway or head south on Boulevard of the Presidents from St. Armands Circle. This section of Lido Key is surrounded by sand dunes and a small nature preserve, thus giving the 32 residences plenty of privacy; in fact, this natural seclusion once made this beach a favorite of nude bathers, but this practice was suppressed by means of a city ordinance in the mid-1980s.

Some of the homes in North Lido Beach date back to the 1940s, thus giving the neighborhood an Old Florida ambiance, but many others are spectacular waterfront estates built in the Mediterranean, Coastal, Modern, and Tuscan styles. Some of the older residences, when they come on the market, are priced for less than $3 million, but you can expect to see higher prices when for upscale mansions that feature private docking space along the eastern canal. You could not ask for a better location than North Lido Beach. A five-minute walk is all it takes to reach the trendy shops, restaurants, and pubs of St. Armands Circle, and the semi-private beach is just steps away from most homes; it should be noted that not many visitors are aware of this section of Lido Key because of the aforementioned dunes and forest patches. All the cultural attractions of Downtown Sarasota are just a bike ride away, and you can also enjoy scenic rounds of golf at the Longboat Key Club, located about 10 minutes north.
