When you are ready to move to a hidden neighborhood that features choice real estate and a country club lifestyle that is reasonably affordable, you should visit River Wilderness in Parrish. Located north of the upper banks of the Manatee River as it flows towards eastern Manatee County, River Wilderness is a very attractive neighborhood for prospective buyers who enjoy golf and nature.
River Wilderness has been around since the 1980s. The community started as an unusual real estate gamble; at that point, not many developers had paid attention to this section of Manatee County. Since then, River Wilderness has become a prime destination for golf enthusiasts interested in solitude, relaxation and plenty of nature.
In terms of real estate, prospective buyers should have plenty to choose from; after all, there are more than 700 properties in the various subdivisions of River Wilderness. Nevertheless, local homeowners tend to hold on to their properties, particularly those who own villas. As of early 2016, house hunters could hope for a handful of single-family homes listed at any given time. Pricing starts under $225K for Florida ranch-style homes with two bedrooms and two full bathrooms. The most spectacular Mediterranean estates are located near the most scenic sections of the golf course, close to ponds, lakes and forest meadows. A three-bedroom and two-bathroom home with nearly 3,400 square feet of living space can be negotiated under $600K, and this would include a private swimming pool, summer kitchen, lush landscaping, custom cabinetry, and more.
The River Wilderness Country Club offers various levels of membership. Choices may include use of the 18-hole golf course, which is part of the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary System, tennis courts, swimming pool, clubhouse, and restaurant. Additionally, neighbors enjoy 24-hour gated security and access to a community boat ramp on the Manatee River.
Despite its solitude, River Wilderness is located close to the Parkwood Square and Silver Leaf shopping centers, both anchored by Publix supermarkets. Holmes Beach is less than an hour away, and Downtown Bradenton is a 25-minute drive.
