House hunters in Sarasota County have a new, attractive option. Developer Ashton Woods entered the local housing market in February 2013 with the purchase of 18 acres of land located north of Fruitville Road, just west of I-75. This is the new community of Whitaker Park, a neighborhood that will feature an initial 79 new single-family residences at very reasonable prices.
For Whitaker Park, Asthon Woods is offering nine floor plans that feature unique architectural designs that can be described as the new Southwest Florida style. Prices start at $267,990 for the Ybor floor plan, a three-bedroom and two-bathroom home built on 1,710 square feet. This home has some elements of the classic Mediterranean-style, albeit with a touch of Caribbean Island home. The Gaspar floor plan, which starts at $280,990 features thicker columns and an attractive porch design in a spacious 2,066 square feet of living space.
At the upper end of Whitaker Park floor plans, the Sheffield features four bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms in a gorgeous two-story design. The Sheffield can be negotiated starting at $317,900. Ashton Woods is making a handful of floor plans available for quick-move in, which means that a few lucky homeowners will be able to live in Whitaker Park in 2014.
Just one visit to Whitaker Park is all it takes to understand that the initial prices are very reasonable and bound to go up in the near future. This is a neighborhood that is located just minutes away from downtown Sarasota and its numerous cultural and artistic offerings. The beaches at Siesta and Longboat Keys are less than 30 minutes away. Young residents are served by Fruitville Elementary and McIntosh Middle as well as by the award-winning Suncoast Polytechnical High School.
